August is upon us already, which means that the hunting season is just around the corner. There’s no better time to get out scouting for giant bucks than right now while their antlers are still covered in velvet. Bean fields and alfalfa fields from coast to coast provide your best chance at seeing a mature buck during daylight hours. However, don’t spend too much time daydreaming about antlers just yet. Check out Bill Winke’s article on Pre-Season bow tuning and make sure you’re ready this fall when that buck steps out in front of you.
Until next month, stay safe and shoot straight

Dead Down Wind is a revolutionary product that uses natural enzymes to prevent odor before it starts. Unlike other products, Dead Down Wind has no harsh chemicals or cover scents. A few years ago, Dead Down Wind took a scientific approach to scent prevention and formulated a line of products that doesn’t just eliminate odor, it prevents it. This is not yesterday’s technology. The 2007 line of Dead Down Wind products are formulated with Nanozyme technology which prevents and terminates a broader spectrum of odor molecules, including human odor, smoke, gas, and all other contaminant odors. In addition to getting to celebrate my birthday (and believe me I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate!), we got to bring my mom up with us. Of course that alone was great, but…my mom bagged herself a bear! Mom and her TC Prohunter muzzleloader bagged a big Canadian bear...

After 15 minutes you’ve started hitting a pie plate stapled to a bale of hay most of the time at 20 yards. You pronounce yourself ready! Whoa, that may be a common scenario but it is also a great way to assure that your tag stays neatly folded in your pocket.
